The littleBits STEAM Student Set is a kit of littleBits designed to empower students to learn about engineering and design through creating their own personally meaningful projects. I contributed to product design, and developed a new graphic language for technical illustrations.
Creative Director: Joe Shouldice
These are some spreads from the new Bit Index section that my team developed. Sky White developed the format, and I provided all of the technical illustrations under the creative direction of Joe Shouldice.
The Isometric Illustration style was developed by me to increase the clarity and quality of our instructions to ensure that the "following instructions" part of the littleBits experience took up as little time as possible, allowing students to sink their teeth into complex design and engineering challenges.
This kit also included a new "How it Works" section that walks students though the bit-by-bit cause and effect relationships in their inventions. The four open challenges, including "Invent a Chain Reaction Contraption" are completely open to exploration, designed to empower students to put their new inventing skills to use in personally meaningful projects.
